Kefi Farms
At Kefi Farms, we believe exceptional garlic starts long before planting. It starts with the soil.
Nestled in some of the richest agricultural soil in the country, our farm is CCOF-certified organic and nourished by historic water rights dating back to the 1800s. We are committed to growing garlic the right way: with healthy soil, clean water, and careful stewardship of the land that will sustain future generations.
Our story is deeply personal. Founder Phil Horning is a cancer survivor since 1982 who understands firsthand the importance of knowing where your food comes from and what comes into contact with it along the way. That perspective influences every decision we make, from the materials we use on the farm to our commitment to organic and regenerative growing practices.
Phil's passion for nutrient-dense food was inspired by his father, a surgeon and medical researcher who believed that soil health is the foundation of human health. He taught that vegetables can only provide the nutrients our bodies need when they are grown in rich, living soil. That philosophy continues to guide our work today.
And then there's the garlic itself.
We genuinely love garlic. Co-founder Angie Horning, whose family roots trace back to Greece, incorporates garlic into nearly every meal. We dehydrate it for soups and salads, roast it for Greek potatoes, and slice it fresh onto avocado toast. Around here, garlic breath is considered a sign of a meal well enjoyed.
Life on the farm wouldn't be complete without our four-legged farmhands. Our two Australian Shepherds and Border Collie take their security duties seriously, helping keep unwanted critters away from the fields so our garlic can thrive. They are compensated with popcorn.
As we look toward the future, we're investing in regenerative farming practices that improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and strengthen the resilience of our land. Our goal is simple: leave the soil better than we found it while growing garlic that is flavorful, nutrient-rich, and worthy of your table.
From our family to yours, thank you for supporting local, organic agriculture and sharing our love of great garlic.
